EVENT REPORT
The 34th Omagh Half Marathon was yet another bumper event selling out again this year with over 3,300 runners. The 5k also sold at nearly 800 runners. The weather was breezy, which did not help the runners too much. With that said we had a very high turnout. It did stay dry and as ever the atmosphere was top class. Hundreds of onlookers lined up at the start to see the thousands of runners off. This is one of Northern Ireland's biggest races and most popular.
The half marathon went off first and we had a great race. Gary Hegarty of Strive Racing and Conan McCaughey ran toe to toe with each other but in the last couple of miles Gary romped home with 11 seconds to spare. He ran 68:18. In 3rd place was Michael Fox of Armagh AC. This was also the ANI championship. Armagh were the winners for 2024. Armagh were also the open race team winners.
Anne Marie McGlynn of Letterkenny A.C. dominated the women's race and had a very comfortable win as expected clocking a time of 75:26. In 2nd place was Dearbhla Cox on Annadale Striders. In 3rs was Jennifer Martin of Tafelta A.C.
The women's ANI champions were Tafelta A.C. with 4 to score based on gross times. The open team winners were also Tafelta with 3 to score
