Achill Half Marathon & 10k 2016

RACE REPORT

The Achill Half Marathon & 10k celebrated it's 11th running of the event. Another fantastic year was enjoyed by all runners and spectators. This is an extremely well organised event by Achill Tourism, with years of experience giving participants a truly great day out. Most of the participant's traveled from all over the country. Many overseas participants also took part, while visiting one of Ireland's most scenic coastal landscapes. Many of the runners had arrived since Friday afternoon to collect their race packs.

There was a very warm welcome for participants as they arrived on site to the purpose built Marquee on Keel Beach. The Islands accommodation and it's surrounding area was sold out for the weekend.

There was as a strong breeze that would have effected runners times. However, this did not dissapoint runners as the views along the route were absolutely stunning. When you run this event you can fully appreciate the scenery on offer and the attraction of the event. Each Runner was treated to tea coffees, cakes, sandwiches etc. There was many other attractions and events on the Island for this same weekend.
