Adare 10k

RACE REPORT

The Adare 10k hosted by West Limerick A.C, had another sell out event that sold out in record time. It took just under 4 days for 1,000 runners to snap up the limited places . It's easy to see why this race is so popular. The level of attention to detail to ensure the runners experience is the best it can be is very evident. The race attracts many locals along with athletics clubs from all over Munster and beyond. Limerick, Cork, Kerry, Glaway, Tipperary, Offaly, Tipperary and many other counties were represented.

The weather conditions turned out to be fairly good considering the heavy rain and wind that had taken over the country for the last few weeks. The sun was shining with temperatures at 7 degrees. It was breezy but a lot lighter than what was originally expected. The route started and finished on Abbey View Road.

The race was very competitive for both the men's and women's races. The course record was broke by Kevin Maunsell in a time of 30:18. The previous course record holder (30:43) Rory O'Connor of North Cork A.C. also broke his own record and finished 2nd in a time of 30:39. Alan O'Shea was 3rd.

The Ladies winner was won by local lady Sorha Ni Donhnaill running for Donore Harriers (Dublin). Sorcha ran 36:41 with Dymphna Ryan of Dundrum A.C. in 2nd. In 3rd was Siobhan O'Doherty.
