EVENT REPORT

 

Bohermeen A.C. hosted yet another fantastic Half Marathon and probably the fastest half Marathon this year. Over 1,750 registered for this event. The event is very well supported every year by clubs from all over the country. This course always seems to bring fast times. It may not be the flattest but it certainly produces good times. One aspect that brings about fast times is due to the high quality of runners who push each other along. There are no quiet spots where a runner may be left on their own. There is always someone to tag along with and race. 

 

Even the leaders ran in this fashion today. Sean Tobin of Clonmel A.C. and Yared Deresse of Carrick Aces went at it right from the gun. It was not until the latter stages that Yared pulled away to win this year's race. In 3rd place was the National Marathon Champion from last year's Dublin Marathon, Martin Hoare of Celbridge A.C.

 

The women's race was won by Raheny Shamrocks A.C. Kate Purcell. Kate has been tearing up courses lately with a string of wins over the last year. In 2nd place was Edel Gaffney of Trim A.C. This was the same 1 and 2 as last week's Lusk A.C. 4 mile race. This time Kate led from start to finish. In 3rd place was Rachel Birt of Annalee A.C.
