EVENT REPORT 

The Bohermeen Half Marathon attracted over 2,500 runners this year and was sold 4 weeks before race date. We had an incredible morning of fantastic sunshine that was summer-esque like. The extra numbers and higher attendance for this extremely popular race meant we had a delay to the start of the race. 

 

Once everyone got to the start line we had a great race in cracking sunshine. The men's race was hanging in the balance right to the end. The beauty of this 2 lap  course created a great spectacle for supporters as they passed Bohermeen Community Hall at half way. Even at this stage it was exciting among the top of the field. We had a nice bunch of talented athletes all just flowing with each other and looking to see who was going to make the break. As they approached the finish line reports were communicated back to race HQ and to the supporters who were waiting in anticipation for the winners. With 1 mile to go it looked like Martin Hoare of Celbridge AC. He had broken from the pack with Michael Fox of Armagh and Araon Hanlon of Drogheda & District A.C. Then with about 800m to go Fox kicked strongly to win in a time of 67:23. Aron finished 2nd (67:31)and Martin just 2 secs behind. (67:33)

 

The women's race all went to plan for the host club's Nicola Sheridan. Nicola had a very impressive winning time of 76.30. In 2nd place was Caroline Henry of Kilcoole A.C (78:28) and Kate Purcell of Raheny Shamrock A.C. was 3rd (78:33)

 

The top 6 were awarded prizes and all age categories. The open team results, we had wins for Road Runners for the men's 4 to score with Raheny and Rathfarnham WSAF in 3rd. The Men's Rennicks Cup with 6 to score was RoadRunners, Rathfarnham and Crusaders A.C.

 

The women's team winners with 4 to score were Sli Cualann, RoadRunners and Raheny Shamrock A.C. The Delany Cup with 4 to score had the same 1,2 and 3 as the open women's team.
