Brooks Armagh 5k International Road Race

RACE REPORT

The Armagh International 5k & 3k events produced yet again some dramatic racing for spectators to enjoy. This is an experience that is truly special. The fast paced racing by world class athletes, coupled with the added atmosphere that night racing brings all came together to create a sensational night. As the athletes fizzed their way through the lapped course you could feel the spine tingling atmosphere.

Thousands lined the Streets of Armagh to watch these world class Athletes take to the start line of each race. Athletes from Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland, Finland, Poland, Belguim and the USA all made the trip for another year.

Many of the future stars kicked the evening off with the under age children's races.

The main highlighted 5k men's was the second race on the card. The Start line view was impressive with some world class athletes and past Olympians on show. Like previous years the competitive edge was fierce with so much battling and jockeying for places through out the race.

The winner Topi Raitanen ran aincredible a time of 13:43. This year broke all records for the 5k with 12 athletes running under 14 mins and 113 runners under 15 mins.

The final race of the night was the men’s 3k, which was also another outstanding quality race. Well done to all participants, clubs, spectators and organisers for making this a night to remember.
