RACE REPORT

The fastest race you will ever see in Ireland and Northern Ireland took place this evening in Armagh City. The 27th Annual Brooks International Armagh 5k attracted some extremely talented international Runners. It was breathtaking to see such talent on show. The evening kicked of with children's races on the Mall. This created the initial big event feel to the evening. The added night time event with street lights and music also contributed to a fabulous atmosphere. The adrenalin was flowing through spectators and the Athletes. Spectators in Armagh were treated to 3 races where the Athletes ran laps around the Mall in the City Centre. The first was the Women's 3k followed by the big attraction of the Men's 5k and finally the Men's 3k.
In the main event the Men's 5k, 80 Athletes ran a time of 15 mins or under with the winner Ben Connor coming home in a time of 13 mins 55 secs.
Many top overseas athletes were competing for the International Team prize. There was also a club team prize up for grabs. This made for top class racing as each runner was pushing hard not just for individual glory but team glory too.
