Castleknock 5k

RACE REPORT

The 4th annual Castleknock 5k took part today and brought with it participants of all abilities and the beautiful weather. This event is growing year on year with a record number of over 900 today. The support both locally and further a field is apparent with runners as far as Trim, Drogheda and Portlaoise along with local runners from MSB, Sportsworld and Bros. Pearse. The route of this 5k is great giving ample opportunity for PB. For the 2nd year running the battle at the front of the field was between John Coughlan and Peter Samba and what a fete it was to watch as they ran shoulder to shoulder for the final 100m, John took the win on the line with a time of 15:34 with Peter following in 15:36. The women's race was just as exciting with Catherina McKiernan coming home first in a super time of 18:41. All participants got to celebrate their success in the grounds of Castleknock College where there was a great festival atmosphere, with music and food a plenty.
