Castleknock 5k 2018

RACE REPORT

Castleknock 5k Run celebrated it's 5th year this morning with another successful day. This event is growing all the time with over 850 registered this year. This event is all for charity with the money from entries and donations going towards Cystic Fibrosis West Branch Dublin.

The festival atmosphere created at the finish area on the grounds of Castleknock College is fantastic and the organisers should really take a bow, with great post race refreshments, DJ, bouncy castle and even face painting the participants want for nothing

There were no surprises with the winners with Peter Somba of Dunboyne AC taking first position, reigning champion John Coughlan of Metro St. Brigids AC coming second and Catherina Mckiernan of Analee AC taking the womens title for another.

Great support by the local community and athletics clubs was evident by the turnout and range of club singlets on show. Some of the clubs that strongly supported were Metro St. Brigids AC, Dublin Frontrunners AC, Dunboyne AC, Donore Harriers, Civil Service Harriers, Porterstown Panthers and many more.
