Clonee 10k Road Race

RACE REPORT

The Clonee 10k took place this evening with over 350 runners registering to take on the flat fast course in Co. Meath.

The race was hosted by Dunboyne AC and as ever the event was extremely well organised by the Meath Club. This was the 3rd year of the event that has become very

popular with locals and surrounding running clubs. The course lends itself to fast times and the quality of runners on show was very high tonight.

We witnessed one of the closest finishes of the year in an epic battle between Emmett Dunleavy and Peter Somba. The two athletes went toe to toe throughout the race. In recent races Peter has always had the final kick. However, on this occasion Emmett Dunleavy accelerated 200m from the finish with an all out sprint battle to the end. Emmett's will power, desire and determination took him home in 1st place. What a race and what a finish. The ladies winner was Teresa Doherty of Finn Valley AC. With all Meath events the after care and hospitality lived up to the high expectations. Each runner was treated to refreshments and fantastic pizzas from Domino's Pizzas
