Cloyne 5k Road Race

CLOYNE 5K RACE REPORT
After last year's absence form their 5k, Cloyne Commons Community hosted their road race with a quick sell out in just a matter of days. This in renowned for its favorable course and quality of runners that take part in this East Cork event. This year was no different. However, the course changed its start and finish areas and maybe for the better and for future races in Cloyne. The new course consisted of mostly the older course with just that change of start and finish.
Weather conditions were ideal with little or no breeze to contend with and great running temperatures. Like every race in East Cork many race battles were taking place all the way through the field.
Tim O'Donoghue whohas been in recent good form brought that into this race too. The East Cork AC man had control of the race from early one as he manage to further his lead through out the race. Tim had a winning time of 14:43
The big battle of the night was behind with a nail biting and hugely exciting all out fight to line bewtween John Meade of St. Finbarrs AC and Bernard O'Hanlon of Leevale AC. Neraly nothing separated them with John just edging it.
The ladies winner was Jessica Coyne in a time of 16:43 of Leevale AC. Age categories were also awarded for masters.
Well done to Cloyne commons Community an great event.
