RACE REPORT

Another huge number of runners signed up for this fantastic event. As ever the Start and Finish Line atmosphere was electric. Not many events in Ireland can boast to have one of the best Finish line atmospheres. The Narrow Street with high rise buildings, the Coca - Cola red sea of banners and high tempo music gives this a big race feel with thousands of supporters lining the streets. Over 1,800 runners took up the annual challenge. The town has been preparing for the event since early Feb. Locals start their training schedules early to be prepared for the big day in May. The host clubs Boyne AC and Drogheda & District AC provide runners with a high quality event. The level of organisation and preparation gives runners an experience they do not forget. All Runners received Goodie bags along with a T Shirt that runners will wear over and over again. This is a highlight event for the town with many participants making a fun and family day out, which provides a much needed boost to the local economy. Bars, Restaurants and cafes all gain from the Boyne 10k.

The race itself was another tight affair. At the 7k mark 6 runners were in contention, however the famous Hill at this point segregated the runners. Paddy Hamilton took top Spot Clubs also battled for pride with team results. Cash prizes were awarded to ages to age categories and teams. This race was also part of the Louth Senior Championships with many local clubs looking to take bragging rights to last for another year. Check out results to see how they performed.
