Dublin Intermediate XC Championships

Race Report

The Dublin Athletics Intermediate XC took place in Tymon Park today on a fresh crisp day. For athletes the conditions were fantastic. As far as XC courses go it had a bit of everything.  With the recent cold dry weather the underfoot conditions were ideal.

As with all Dublin XC events both the Women's and Men's races were very competitive. The Women's race was dominated by DCH like most of this year's XC events not only in Dublin but also in Leinster and National events too. Edel Monaghan coasted home for an easy win, However many battles took place further back down the field.
DCH took top team position with Clonliffe Harriers 2nd and Liffey Valley AC in 3rd place.

The Men's race was extremely tight from start to finish. Right from the start Raheny Shamrock AC, Tallaght AC and Donore Harriers were locking horns and jostling for position. In relation to team scoring it was a 3 horse race. As the race progressed it was becoming clearer that Raheny would take the title with Rob Frewan making up some serious ground and positions. They worked well and scored tightly in 2nd, 4th, 5th and 11th. The true art of XC is scoring in clusters to keep the points score low.

Tallaght AC had some great performances taking 1st and 2nd overall. Brishan O'Brien of Tallaght AC won the race with Dylan O'Brien of Raheny Shamrock AC 2nd followed by Josh O'Brien of Tallaght AC in 3rd.
The next Dublin Athletics XC will be in early Jan for the very popular Master event in St. Anne's Park hosted by Raheny Shamrock AC.
