Dublin Juvenile XC League 1 and Intermediate XC Championships 2023

RACE REPORT
The Dublin Inter Women's and Men's XC took place in Tymon Park and was hosted by Rathfarnham WSAF.
The course held up well as we had juvenile league round 3 before the Inter adults races. Large numbers attended the Juveniles racees. Results for these races can be obtained from Dublin Athletics website over the coming days.
The Women's race of 6k was as competitive as you can get in terms of team scoring. Civil Service Harriers, Raheny Shamrock A.C., Donore Harriers, Dublin City Harriers were all out to potentially win.
There were only 2 points separating the overall winners, Civil Service and Rahney. (38 points to 40). It was exciting to watch as they crossed the finish line. It was not clear as who was going to take the team awards. It was real cross country where places and running in pairs or groups made the difference. It was extremely tight. 3rd and 4th place was also very close with only 6 points separating DCH and Donore Harriers.
Cristin Schollard of DCH was the clear winner for the individual race itself. In 2nd place eas Juno Gerolmo Feeney of Donore Harriers and 3rd placed on the podium was Kate Crowley of Raheny Shamrock A.C..
Next up was the mens race. Again this was fiercely contested. Clonliffe had a very strong outfit and the real battle was between Brothers Pearse, Liffey Valley, Raheny Shamrock and Donore Harriers. All clubs lost runners before the race from the initial start list produced early in the week. This made it even more intriguing. It definitely was a case of just getting numbers to the line.
Clonliffe ran the perfect race running in a group with scoring of 2,3 5, and 11 making it a 1 horse race for the team title. Brothers Pearse picked up 2nd team with 44 pts comfortably. 3rd place was hard fought for in the trenches. Liffey Valley came out on top with Raheny and Donore pushing hard.
The individual race was won by Eddie O'Connor of Brothers Pearse, who thrives on XC and trail running. It was a powerful performance. Fintan Kerins an and Niall Carbery of Clonliffe were 2nd and 3rd with only a couple of seconds between them. This was an inter club Clonliffe dual, which also helped with team scoring.
