Rules for the Pat Hooper Perpetual Cup Team Challenge
-
The Pat Hooper Perpetual Cup is awarded to the most successful Club in all Team Competitions at the Annual Dublin Masters Cross Country Championships. It rewards and encourages both Team participation and success.
-
Points are awarded to all Clubs finishing scoring teams across all 6 categories currently competed for, i.e., M35, M50, M65, F35, F50 and F65.
-
Calculations are done based on the number of teams to finish in each category on the day. For example, if there are 12 finishing teams in the M35 section then the team that finishes 1st is awarded 12 points and the team finishing 12th is awarded 1 point.
-
The team results across all categories are then added together. The overall winner is deemed to be the Club that has won the most points across all categories and is thus awarded the Pat Hooper Cup.
-
In the event of a tie on points the Cup will be awarded to the Club with the most Team Victories on the day.
-
In the event of a further tie, after the above tie, the winning Club will be deemed to be the one with the most finishers across all categories on the day.
Entry procedures and scoring rules
-
Participants must be entered by 12.00 midnight, Thursday 5th January 2022 in the race in which they wish to score in, entering their Club Name and Date of Birth. e.g., The Dates of Birth will determine the individual category each participant scores in.
-
No separate team entries are required. Each entrant will score on their Club team in the race they run in i.e. in the M35, M50, F35 and M65/F50/F65 races. If an M50 athlete enters for the M35 race, they will score on their Club M35 team but cannot score in their M50 Individual Category. Athletes can only run in the race they have entered for e.g. an M50 athlete having run in the M35 race, cannot run in the M50 race with the same number unless they enter the M50 race separately. Athletes can only score on one Club team i.e. on either the M35 team or on the M50 team.
-
Once the athlete’s DOB and Club designation are entered, the normal scoring rules will apply in the Individual and Team competitions i.e., the first 4 across the line score on the Club team (3 in the case of F50 and 65 and M65) and the first 3 in each Individual Category.
