Dublin Uneven Age , Junior & Senior XC Championships 2023

RACE REPORT
Dublin Uneven, Junior and Senior XC was hosted by Clonliffe Harriers in Santry Demesne. Weather conditions were ideal with a small shower for the Men's Senior race. However, underfoot conditions were slippery and as the day went on it became heavy and sticky.
This left it heavy going for the junior and senior athletes. The Girls U19 & Junior race was combined. Sadhbh Mohan of MSB A.C was the overall winner of the combined race. The winner of the U19 race was Edel McCreery of Rathfarnham WSAF.
The Boys U19 was won by Sean Cronin of Clonliffe Harriers who was also the U19 winner.
The Women's Senior race was run under new European Athletics guidance of 9k. The women were certainly tested with the sticky and heavy ground. DCH were the winners with a hugely impressive double this weekend. They won the Women's Senior Leinster yesterday ( Saturday) with a different selection of athletes. DSD AC were 2nd place with Rahney Shamrock running very well to take 3rd and bronze medals.
The Men's Senior race was tasty looking at the pre race athlete list. It did not disappoint with a very high quality field taking to the line. Efrem Gidey stole the show with his 2nd and consectuive Senior XC title win. With a very high quality field Efrem pulled away very early on with a comfortable win. It was all about the battle for the remaining places. Host Club Clonliffe took the team title. Rathfarnham WSAF were 2nd with a good battle against 3rd placed DSD A.C.
Well done to Dublin Athletics from it's juvenile volunteers led by Cecil Johnston of Tallaght A.C and members from clubs all over Dublin to organise a great day in Santry. Well done to host club Clonliffe for putting together a great course in tough ground conditions.
