Dunboyne AC 4 Mile

The Dunboyne 4 mile was another top quality race today in the Meath Village. This long standing race has always provided athletes and spectators with some fine racing. Clubs from all over Meath, Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Westmeath, Wicklow and beyond all attended the Meath venue. Over 700 runners signed up with a further 200 Children taking part in some very entertaining under age races.

The main event took runners through the village on 2 occasions, giving spectators plenty of action to witness. The atmosphere in the village square was further aided by PA announcer Liam Moggan and Tommy McDonell of Dunboyne AC who informed the onlookers with athlete information. The race was hugely entertaining with some of the top runners finding themselves in small groups form early on creating many battles through out. At the top end there was some real class running produced among the likes of Peter Somba, Mick Clohisey, William Maunsell, Sean Hehir, Gary Campbell, and Tomas Fitzpatrick. The above is how they all placed. We were spoiled today with such a turnout of top Athletes. The above list of Athletes consisted of former Marathon Olympians, Dublin Marathon winner, and Irish European XC team members.

WINNER PETER SOMBA (Dunboyne AC)

The women's race was also close with Ide Nic Dhomhnaill of Donore Harriers winning out, followed by a very close battle for 2 nd and 3rd. Fiona Kehoe of Kilmore AC won the 2nd position with Ashley Ryan of Civil Service Harriers 3rd.
