Dunleer 4 Mile

RACE REPORT

The 9th Dunleer 4 Mile was a sizzling hot affair in terms of weather and racing. Over 300 attended the Dunleer A.C. event in Co. Louth. This is a gem of an event with a fantastic start and finish in the centre of the village. Hundreds of spectators came out to bask in the summer sunshine. For runners it was a tough challenge in the mid afternoon temperatures of 20 degree heat.

This years race produced a cracking finish among 2 top athletes Gideon Kimosop of 1 Zero 1 A.C. and Peter Somba of Dunboyne A.C. They went all out from the start to win and break the course record. The race went all the way to wire with a rip roaring sprint finish through the village. Gideon just took the win by 1 second to break the course record in a time of 19:24. This was some feat on a tough course and hot conditions. The ladies winner was former title holder Niamh Devlin of Dundrum South Dubllin A.C.

Well done to Dunleer A.C. and and the local community for making this a special wee event in the wee county.
