Great Ireland Run 2025

EVENT REPORT

The Great Ireland Run was yet another race that sold out in 2025.
Over 3,150 runners registered for this year's event. Runners tend to follow great events that are highly organised and focus on the runner's experience. Dublin City Harriers who are a long traditional club certainly know to look after their participants. Runners came to the Phoenix Park for the early 9am start to take part in the prestigious event. Over 2,400 took the start line for what was a fabulous morning for racing.

Colin Leonard of Drogheda & District had a well deserved win fighting off some good competition from Rayn Murphy and Cian Charlton of Raheny Shamrock A.C All 3 gave each other some good company but the Drogheda man had just that bit more in the tank to finish strong in a time of 33:25. Ryan Murphy finished 2nd and Cian Charlton was 3rd.

Mollie O'Connell was the women's winner from Liffey Valley A.C. in a time of 38:32. It was very fitting that a Liffey Valley athlete had a great win after the recent passing of club member Nick Davis. Nick was a giant of a figure in Dublin Athletics and Irish Athletics. Everyone in athletics and beyond would like to give their condolences to Nick's family.  I'm sure he had a smile looking down today for Mollie.
Aisling O'Connor of Rathfarnham WASAF was 2nd. In 3rd place was Michelle Maher of Galway City Harriers.

In the team competition Raheny Shamrock A.C. were the men's winners and the women's team winners were Donore Harriers.
