RACE REPORT

 

 

 

The annual Inbhear Dee Streets Of Wicklow 5k took place this morning in perfect running conditions. This event which is growing every year was well supported the local community. Runners also came from a far with clubs from Wexford, Kildare and Dublin  well represented.This race is fast and furious  with a lovely festive atmosphere created by the club and finish line compere Billy Porter who had a story to tell for nearly every runner crossing the line.

 

Both the women's and men's title were well fought for with some serious competitors in the field. Tom Hogan lead the field home in a time of 15:47, followed closely by Gareth Murran of Sportsword RC and first junior Derek Crammond of Parnell AC taking 3rd position.

 

The women's race was just as exciting with Linda Byrne of DSD taking the title just a few seconds ahead of club mate Sarah Mulligan following closely behind to take 3rd place - Una Britton from Kilcoole AC, this was a closely fought battle between the 3 ladies right from the start.
