RACE REPORT

 

 

The Kilkenny Yulefest 1 mile took place in the heart of Kilkenny this evening. This was part of the seasons opening festival to bring the festive cheer to Kilkenny. Christmas lights, festive music and much more greeted the participants. The organisers of the event were the Kilkenny Recreational and Sports Partnership. What a great way to kick off the Festive spirit for the people of Kilkenny. 

The event attracted over 800 participants. The event was both Chip timed and non chipped timed. The more serious club runners and others alike took up the challenge to run as fast as they could for 1 mile.  

The City had never seen the like before. Hundreds of athletes running at extremely fast speed hurled through the streets of Kilkenny.

 

The second non chipped FREE to enter event was set up to promote activity and a healthy lifestyle for the people of Kilkenny. The event started on Parade Plaza and the course sent runners for fast mile through the heart of Kilkenny City. The atmosphere was electric from Start to Finish. Hundreds of spectators lined the streets to watch participants speed through the City.  This event certainly stole the limelight off the Late Late Toy show.....Hopefully children will be looking for running shoes and race singlets after this magnificent event.
