RACE REPORT
The Athletics Ireland Race Series 10 miler took place in a scorcher of a day in the Phoenix Park. This was the final race in the series and it was also the National 10 Mile Championship.
Over 860 signed up for the event. Runners were treated to fabulous sunshine and a very well organised event. Great summer weather, a great atmosphere, commentary by Joanne Murphy and some fine athletes made this a day to remember. All of the race series were very much enjoyed by runners and athletes.
The National Champs was one by Mick Clohisey of Raheny Shamrock o. In hot conditions Mick had a close race with Eskanser Turki of Anndale Striders and Sean Doyle of North Cork AC who finished 3rd. Mick had a few seconds to spare as the local crowd gave him the extra push needed for yet another National Title. Mick is one of the country's most decorated National Champs on the road and Cross Country.
The men's team winners were Clonliffe Harriers edging out their neighbours Raheny Shamrock AC.
The women's race was won by pre race favourite Ciara Toner of City Of Derry Spartans AC. 2nd place Niamh Clifford of Donore Harriers was 2nd with another Donore Harriers athlete Sorcha Loughnane was 3rd. No surprise that Donore took the Senior team title.
