Irish Runner 10 Mile 2019

RACE REPORT

The 2nd year of the Irish Runner 10 Mile took place this morning in the Phoenix Park with overall numbers up on last year. The weather conditions were really ideal for running with temperatures slightly cooler than previous days. The course, not known to be the easiest, did not prevent some fine performances from been recorded. This was the last race in the Athletics Ireland Race Series capping off a very successful trilogy of events. Just under 1,600 runners signed up to take part in this highly organised race. Runners got the royal treatment along with the participants of the Family Mile that took place just before the main 10 Mile.

This was part of the National 10 Mile Championships and it proved to be fiercely contested across all age age categories and team scoring. The Mens Team results really did throw up some great excitement as runners came in very close together. At one stage there were 4 teams with 2 across the line but Raheny Shamorock A.C.s Wes O'Brien got their 3rd member home to clinch the Senior Title.

David Flynn won the race with a fine strong and confident performance. David pulled away from a gutsy run from Clonmel A.C.s David Mansfield.

This years winner was David Flynn of of Clonliffe Harriers. The Ladies winner was Niamh Clifford of Star of Luane A.C. Check out all the PROVISIONAL RESULTS below.
