RACE REPORT

 

 

This 10k event has caught fire over the last number of years with its popularity. West Limerick A.C certainly knows how to put an event together, hence why this race sells out. 

 

The club, made of runners knows what participants want from a top event. From elites runners, walkers and joggers this race hits the mark all round. The town of Adare welcomes the participants, many of who make the pilgrimage every year. Some noticeable clubs in attendance were An Bru A.C., Bweeng Trail Blazers, Dooneen A.C, Ennis Track, Mallow A.C. Mt. Hilary A.C., Shandrum A.C. and many more travelled in big numbers. 

 

800 runners took to the start line, which was full of energy and beans just waiting for the gun to start the race. It was a glorious sight to see the runners head towards Adare town centre and take out into the countryside. The all right turn looped course is a fair course that has some testing elements but also some nice sections too to make it an overall good course. 

 

This year winner was Niall Shanahan of An Bru in a time of 31:34. Niall was followed in 2nd by Declan Moore of Bilboa A.C. and in 3rd was Karl Fitzmaurice of Shannon A.C.. 

 

The men's team winners were host club West Limerick A.C. with Delan Guina leading the troops. 

 

The women's race was won by Carolyn Hayes of West Limerick A.C in a time of 39:28. A good day all round for the host club with some impressive results. In 2nd place was Pamela Kirby of Bilboa A.C. In 3rd place was Clare Coleman of Dooneen A.C.

 

West Limerick A.C took the womens team prize. Well done to the host club for organising a great event. We look forward to next year already.
