Lucan Harriers AC 5 Mile
RACE REPORT
Lucan Harries ran their 2nd annual 5 Mile race today with great success. They also managed the weather to perfection. After a night of heavy rain the sun came through just at the right time this morning. Runners were eager and looking forward to some great action. The club organised a fabulous event with a high degree of professionalism and taking into account the runners experience.
Organising events in Dublin is slightly more problematic than other parts of the country but Lucan Harriers nailed it with style. Everybody left with a smile and feeling great afterwards. 340 runners signed up with many more also running the event virtually. The race finished on the Lucan track that helped with the atmosphere and excitement at the finish line.
Peter Somba of Dunboyne AC had a comfortable win and is in great form recently. The Dublin Marathon is on the horizon for Peter who will be looking to compete for a national title. Thomas Fitzpatrick of Tallaght AC was 2nd with Pauric Ennis of Tullamore Harriers in 3rd.
The women's race also had a good spread of club runners featuring. In 1st place was Sarah Mulligan of DSD AC. 2nd was Siobhan Mcardle of Naas AC and host club Lucan Harriers secured 3rd place for Lisa Ward.
Well done Lucan Harriers for a superb event.
