Lucan Harriers AC 5 Mile

The Lucan 5 Mile had record numbers for their 5 Mile and Juvenile races. Over 700 signed up for the 5 mile and approximately a few 150 kids. We had the Gods looking down on us in terms of weather. Overnight the Dublin area had extremely strong winds and heavy rain showers. Like a light switch the wind had vanished at about 7am and the morning remained dry.
There was great energy and excitement before the main 5 mile race as the kids races gave us plenty of entertainment.

The host club Lucan Harriers looked after the participants extremely well. Music, fun, cakes and a well organised event made this a very enjoyable event. This was also part of the Dublin Athletics 5 Mile Road Race championships. Many clubs packed heavily to look for honors. It was very well attended overall by Dublin clubs. Check the club stats in our Stats Report
The race itself was won by probably the masters athlete of the year Colm Rooney of Clonliffe Harriers. Colm blitzed home in a time of 24:09. The women's race was won by the race favourite Faye Dervan of Dublin City Harriers and coached by Feidhlin in Dublin Track Club.
