Meath Spring Half Marathon & 10k

RACE REPORT

The sell out Meath Spring Half Marathon and 10k was a huge success for host club Bohermeen AC. The long established club with a high reputation certainly knows how to put a road race together. The main of objective was to provide participants with a great experience and that's what was given today. Over 1,600 signed up over the 2 events.

Runners from all over the country attended the event due to its high profile and potential for fast times. The conditions were perfect with little of no breeze. This coupled with a good course and quality field of athletes all helped contribute to pb times.

The day started off with the 10k at 10am. There was great sense of excitement and anticipation before both races.

The 10k was won by the home Bohermeen AC club member Darragh Rennicks followed by Simon Ryan and Eoin Devlin of Civil Service Harriers. The Ladies winner was the popular Catherina Mckiernan. In 2nd place was Zoe Quinn of Raheny Shamrock AC and 3rd Leigh James.

The highlight event of the Half Marathon had a large field of runners with some fine Athletes involved. The winner was Mark Ryan of Rathfarnham WSAF. Mark had lead from start to finish with a very strong run. 2nd was Martin Hoare of Celbridge AC and 3rd was Meath man running Mark Hoey now with Leevale AC.

The Ladies winner was Maria McCambride of Dundrum South Dublin. 2nd was Alma Hanevy of Crusaders AC and 3rd was Emilia Dan of Dunboyne AC. Check out all the results along with team scoring in our results.

As ever with all Meath events the hospitality was of the highest order with lots of after refreshments offered to runners.
