Mullingar Park Hotel 10km
Today's report from the field is from Gvido Roze of Carrick-On-Shannon AC who ran a PB of 49:07 in testing conditions:-
''When everyone gathered at the start line, just outside of Mullingar Park Hotel, the sun was shining and it seemed like the weather conditions for the race were going to be great. However only moments after the runners set off, skies turned grey and they were all faced with wind and rain. The route was five kilometers in length along the side of the road, with four roundabouts in it and there were a few climbs along the way. The fourth roundabout is where you had to turn around and run back to where the race started. A lot of marshals were out on the course to ensure that everyone was safe and going the right way. Slightly past the 5k marker, cups of water were handed to whoever wanted a little refreshment. Results, fruit and water were waiting for everyone at the finish line. Tim Murphy of the Mullingar Harriers won the race, coming in at 33:56. Presentation and prize giving were held in the hotel soon after we had crossed the line.''
