RACE REPORT
Rathkenny AC hosted their 5k after a 3 year absence. All resumed back to normal and fully enjoyed by all participants. Over 300 signed up for the race of, which 277 were chipped timed and the some non chipped walkers. This has become a very popular race in the Meath calendar. It always offers a great evening out for participants. There was a strong sense of community as the local GAA grounds is where the race finish line was located and Race HQ in the community hall. Everybody was onboard within the small community to make this a huge sucess. A Sucees is exactly what is was.
The race attracted runners not just locally but from further a field. Louth, Meath, Dublin, Kildare, Armagh, Offaly and many other countries were represented. Cian Kelly of St. Abbans AC won the race in a time of 15:22 breaking the course record. He was followed in 2nd place by Aron Getty of St. Brigids AC. in 3rd place was James Sherlock of Bohermeen AC.
The women's race was won by Nicola Welsh of Dunleer AC in a time of 19:39. Lorna Quinn of Sportsworld RC was 2nd and in 3rd place was Brigid Reilly of Liffey Valley AC.
Well done to Rathkenny AC for another very enjoyable race and event. Meath races are certainly back in full swing
