Rita & Robbie Christmas 5K 2024

Race Report
The Rita & Robbie 5k hosted by Navan A.C had another great turnout. Christmas events this year have had bumper numbers in attendance. This has followed the trend for attendances through the whole year.
This race was keeping in line with what we have seen over the festive period. There is always something special about the Rita & Robbie 5k that gives a great festive vibe and family friendly event. The surrounding Meath clubs support the host club extremely well. Bohermeen A.C, Moynalty A.C., Tara A.C., Trim A.C., Fr Murphys A.C., Dunshaughlin, A.C, Dunboyne A.C, St Brigids A.C. and more were in support, We also had a good club attendance from neighbouring counties, Dublin, Louth, Kildare , Westmeath and more. The race itself had over 450 sign up for what is a good course. The middle section has an incline but runners get a nice 1km plus downhill to finish on Claremount Stadium's lovely blue tartan track.
We had a good competitive race for both men and women. It was difficult to pick a winner on the start line as we had many runners of similar talent. The men's race had only 3 seconds of a time gap between 1st and 4th with another 5 coming close behind. Thomas Fitzpatrick finished the strongest with a great win clocking 15:20. In 2nd place right on his heels was Mathew Fitzpatrick of Dunleer A.C, and another Dublin club runner Eanna Moynihan O'Bradaigh of DSD A.C. was 3rd.
The men's team winners were Tara A.C who attended in large numbers.
The women's race was won by Saoirse McGrath of Crusaders A.C in a time of 18.28. Like the men's race the top 3 were always close to each other making all 3 work hard. 2nd place was Eimear English of Dunboyne A.C. and Eimear O'Leary of Sportsworld was 3rd.
Well done to Navan A.C. for another very successful race and organisation.
