Scotch Hall Drogheda 10k 2022

Race Report
The Drogheda 10k was back with a bang today. This very much adored and popular local event in Drogheda is very much a highlight event within the town. It always brings great colour, atmosphere and excitement to the town. Runners start preparing months in advance for the big day. Friends, family members and club mates all motivate each other to get to the start line. The start/finish line area on Drogheda's West Street was electric. For runners and spectators this atmosphere is hard to beat anywhere in the country.
Local business thrived as over 1,200 runners plus family and friends made their way to Drogheda town centre. This year's route was also more runner friendly as the well known "killer hill" was removed from the course.
The route has so many great features from the electric street start and finish line atmosphere to scenic and stunning river Boyne views. This year's race brought the current National Marathon and National 10k Road Race Champion to town. Mick Clohisey of Raheny Shamrock AC took to the line with many other fine athletes. Mick made light work of the 10k route and stormed home in a blistering time and recorded a new course time of 30:41. Aaron Smith of Cilles AC had a great performance and finished 2nd. Aaron was also a junior with a bright future ahead. Darragh Greene of Dunleer AC was 3rd.
Laura McDonnell of Rathfarnham WASAF had another brilliant performance and was the winner of the women's race in a time of 36:03. She finished over 1 minute ahead of 2nd place Laura Buckley of Dunboyne AC.
This was also part of the Louth 10km Championships. Well done to all who contributed to a great day.
