EVENT REPORT

Bohermeen A.C. hosted their biggest ever Half Marathon to date. The weather was typical for March with cold and wet conditions. However, we still had some very fast times recorded. The breeze was light which helped runners smash Pbs. One of the reasons why we get fast times in Bohermeen is due to the amount of athletes of similar quality being able to race each other and hold their concentration right to the end. The race was steeped with club runners making this one the best half marathons in the country.

Bohermeen is a long standing club and very well respected around the country hence why so many clubs from all over Ireland and Northern Ireland attend. You can see from our stats tab below the amount of club support. We had 2045 registered runners with over 1,500 taking to the start line.

Both the men's and women's were of high quality throughout. Martin Hoare of Celbridge A.C took the race out with Peter Somba closely behind at all times. Martin was in form and managed to keep off Peter for a fine win in a time of 66:50. Peter was 2nd and Ciaran Mckenna of Star of the Sea was 3rd.

The women's race was stacked with quality too. The inform Ciara Wilson of DMP A.C. won the race taking a course record along the way clocking 75:32. Kate Purcell of Raheny Shamrock A.C. was 2nd. These 2 athletes have both national titles on road and XC over the last couple of years. Caitlyn Harvey of Road Runners was 3rd.

Raheny Shamrock A.C. came in large numbers and conquered all awards from individual prizes, age categories and teams. They won the men's open team with 4 to score and the Rennicks Cup with 6 to score. Raheny women were 2nd in the overall club team and the Delaney Cup. Both the women's teams were 4 to score.

Crusaders A.C. from Dublin won both the women's teams. This was also part of the Meath Half Marathon Road Champs. Ciaran Mckenna was the first Meath man home and Jane Bandila of Dunboyne A.C. was the 1st Meath women.

This was another great Bohermeen Half Marathon. Many pbs were achieved and already next looks certain to be another sell out.
